Arthritis Volunteering Opportunities in Leeds

VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES IN LEEDS

Do you have Arthritis (or have an understanding of living with Arthritis)?  Are you friendly, approachable and able to put people at ease? Want to do something to help other people to understand and learn how to live well with Arthritis?

Arthritis Care are looking for volunteers in the Leeds area to help to run our ‘Living Well with Arthritis’ project. There are three volunteer roles that we are trying to fill.

Drop in Volunteer or Information Point Volunteer

We need volunteers to help run our regular information points/drop ins. These last approximately 2 hours and take place monthly in venues such as outpatient departments, health centres etc. They offer people information about arthritis and the opportunity to talk about their condition with someone who understands it.

Peer workshop facilitators

We need volunteers to help run a structured series of peer support workshops for up to eight participants. Volunteers will help create an enabling and inclusive environment that encourages participants to freely discuss and share their ideas and experiences about arthritis.

One to one volunteer

We need volunteers to run a series of structured face to face or telephone sessions to help people with arthritis. The sessions would explore with them practical issues such as diet and exercise, pain management, aids and adaptations etc.

If you are able to give people your time and attention and are able to share your own experiences and insights with them, we would love to hear from you. We can offer training, expenses and ongoing support from local coordinators.

As part of the recruitment drive we have a Drop In information stall at City Centre One Stop Centre 2 Great George Street  Leeds LS2 8BA  on Monday 30th January from 10.30 until 1
