Barwick Beer Festival 2016

On the 17th September 2016 at 12pm, Barwick in Elmet will host its 8th annual beer Festival at Barwick in Elmet Village Hall. The previous organisers lead by local beer officiando, Richard Hampshire, have stepped down after 7 successful years and handed the reigns over to a new committee who are striving to make this year’s festival the biggest and hopefully the best yet.

Committee member Neil Beaumont explained, “We have an unprecedented 20 firkins (1440 pints) of cask conditioned ales, 10 different wines including Proseccos and a very large selection of traditional Ciders, bottled continental lagers and craft beers. Full details of what’s on offer will be announced on the social media pages in the run up to the festival. But we can confirm there will be several multi award winning beers from all over Yorkshire. For the first year since its inception we will be utilising cask cooling barwick-beer-fest-peopleequipment to ensure the beer stays in tip top condition throughout the day, until it’s all been ‘supped’.”

As this is a fund raising event, the Barrels will be sponsored by a range of local businesses, some of whom will be providing money off vouchers in our programme.

There’s also live music from the “Welsh T Band” an American style blues band and the “Roosters” who perform a selection of covers to suit a variety of musical tastes.

Entry to the festival, will be an inflation busting five (£5.00) Yorkshire pounds. For which those attending shall receive a commemorative glass, souvenir programme and a pint of beer, or 2 halves should you prefer.
All, drinks will be around the £3 per pint, and is customary at such events will be paid for using beer tokens which can be purchased at the event.

The proceeds from the festival will go to supporting the Barwick in Elmet Maypole Trust to raise money for next year’s triennial Maypole Festival which will be held on Spring Bank Holiday Monday 2017.
