East Leeds Magazine Editorial – Issue 49

cover julyThere was a tinker lived of late

Who walked the streets of Rye

He bore his pack upon his back

Patches and plugs did cry

O I have brass within my bag

My hammer’s full of metal.

And as to skill I well can clout

And mend a broken kettle

A fine song from the cult classic film the Wicker Man, sung by Lord Summerisle, also known as Count Dracula, Scaramanga and Saruman. RIP the fine actor and singer Christopher Lee.

Controversial stuff from Lee Murtagh this issue but hopefully he’ll have calmed down by the time it gets to his open air show at Garforth Town Football Club on August 2nd at 2.00 pm. (call Lee for tickets, see page 24)

A couple of forthcoming events, St Gemma’s Hospice are holding a Family Fun Day at Temple Newsam on 15th August, all the usual stuff, bouncy castle, fire engines stalls and games and also featuring a classic car show. (see page 16)

If you can’t wait that long, the Dogs Trust are having a fun day on the 2nd August from 11o’clock see page 30 for more information.
