East Leeds Magazine – Issue 66 Editorial

I’ve got a bike. You can ride it if you like.
It’s got a basket, a bell that rings and
Things to make it look good.
I’d give it to you if I could, but I borrowed it.

Pink Floyd’s Syd Barret era classic song ‘Bike’ from the Piper at the Gates of Dawn album. The chances are Syd didn’t have the ‘Tour de Yorkshire’ in mind when he wrote it but nevertheless the tour passed nearby again, this time just up’road in Taddy. He probably didn’t have Lands End to John O’Groats in mind either but five local fella’s, aka The Yorkshire Puddingz, have taken leave of their senses and are cycling the length of the entire country in aid of Yorkshire Air Ambulance. They must be crazy and talking of ‘la vida loca’ Samuel Moore, Leeds’ premier flamenco guitarist took time out from his ‘toque’ to sit down and tell us about the fifth Leeds Flamenco Festival at Holy Trinity Church on Boar Lane in town. A-cha-cha!

Still in Spain, Alan Cuthbertson’s busy with his midlife crisis and a bit closer to home John Moody rounds up the last of his ’Sound & Vision’ articles with a few pictures from back in the day. Back on the bike, support St.Gemma’s with their London to Paris bike ride – four days, 300 miles and two capitals, if you fancy joining in but need to lose a bit of weight, see pages eight & nine.
