Lee Murtagh – June Aria Show

My next show is on 24th June and again it’s at the Aria Suite on Woodhouse Street. It’s on a Saturday evening this time for a change but it’s by popular demand so I’ll have to see how it goes.

Crossgates’ Liam Hayes is topping the bill as he takes the next step on his road map to turning professional. His opponent is a BIBA registered Manchester based pro called Will Kanes. This opponent not only represents a step up in class for Liam but he will be boxing 6 rounds for the first time. I’ve been trying to work Liam a bit harder in training with this in mind.

Seacroft based Mark Black steps in the ring for a second time against Sheffield’s Kieron Hudson in a rematch for the Yorkshire Challenge Championship. Garforth’s Joe Hardy is looking for his second win and East End Park’s Marcus Howitt looks to get back on track after losing his last fight. Lee Williams will also be defending his Northern Area Belt.

An interesting addition to the show is up and coming East Leeds based Shaun Collier who came to watch his nephew train and ended up on the bill himself. I don’t train him myself but he is trained by a close friend of mine. Shaun’s story is one I’ve heard frequently over the last few months – there are a lot of boxers sat doing nothing at the moment as there doesn’t seem to be the quantity of shows as per usual going on.

I’ve had a few enquiries from various boxing clubs about placing their boxers on my shows, which is great, I’m happy to accommodate them, as long as they can be fairly matched and fit in with the licensing criteria. I like to think my shows are of a professional standard as well as been regular and reliable, the fact there might be a glimpse of a Made in Leeds TV camera man also makes them attractive to fight on.
