Libraries, Books and Much More – Leeds City Council

Since the 1st of April this year Library staff, One Stop Centre and Job Shop staff throughout the City have all become part of one team known as Citizens @ Leeds and are starting to integrate together to deliver services .

By doing this the Council intends to keep Libraries open and make better use of its staff and buildings. Already where Libraries are co-located with the One Stops this has meant we have been able to increase opening hours at some sites rather than cutting hours.

Over the coming months new services will be delivered from the Libraries and new partners may be working with us. At the moment One Stop services in the East are at Osmondthorpe, South Seacroft, North Seacroft and Garforth One Stop Centres where you can make enquiries about any council service, get advice on benefits, job advice and money advice. We are now starting to look at what services can be delivered from the Library Buildings in the East, so that you can access these services at these sites in some way.

In the East, Crossgates, Halton and Scholes  Libraries provide a full range of Library services free of charge. You can take out 20 books at a time, use the free PCs and WiFi and get free computer training.

We also have 5,000 free e books that you can download and a free Library app that allows you to manage all your library activity on the go. You can even use it to scan the barcode of a book to see if it’s available in your Library before you buy it! Visit your app store and search for Leeds Libraries to get the app.

On the right is a list of the opening hours and details of regular events at your local libraries, although as a library member you can use any Library in the city and borrow and return your books to any of the libraries.

Story Time is for the under 5’s and Little Bookworms is for Babies, just turn up on the day.

Gran Buddies caters for Grandparents and their Grand kids and is play and crafts. Are you a Dad, Stepdad, Granddad, Uncle or Brother? Do you have or look after children under 5? If so come along to our free Saturdads club at Crossgates Library for an exciting morning of activities including stories, rhymes, building blocks, colouring and sticking. Babies welcome. Halton and Crossgates have rooms available for use by the Public for meetings and events so please call in / contact us if you want to use these spaces.
