Oceans Fish Restaurant – Awards and Gluten Free Batter

oceans-awardIt’s all been happening at Oceans since we last featured them. Firstly and most importantly they’ve been awarded the National Federation of Fish Fryers Quality Award. This covers quality and taste, hygiene, food preparation and customer service.  It is not an award that is easy to come by and out of ten thousand chippy’s throughout the UK only about 200 are recipients of it. So it’s congratulations to George, Anna and the team.

“We are both proud of the award, it’s quite difficult to get one and it doesn’t mean you’re a bad chippy if you don’t have it, it just means you’ve met all the criteria and you’re an excellent chippy if you do have it.” said George with a twinkle in his eye.

Hopefully we can soon celebrate with a beer with them as they have recently applied for a licence to sell alcohol, so if you want to relax with a beer or glass of wine when you sit down at Oceans, it will be on the menu in the near future.

Also, by customer request, gluten free batter has been added to the menu. There’s also  more for kids –  ‘Snow Shock Slush’ drinks are now available in a variety of flavours and don’t forget the wonderful ice cream.

Also new to Oceans are Gift Vouchers which can be used any time of the day. They’re available  at £5, £10 and £25.

Anna who runs the restaurant side of things explains.

“We kept getting asked if we did them so we’ve decided to give it a go, and soon we’ll add Loyalty Cards –  If you pick up ten stamps on your loyalty card then there’s a free meal on offer.”

Oceans now have their facebook page up and running, feel free to post a review on there or any feedback you may have. They will be posting various offers on there from time to time, so it’s worth keeping an eye out!  And coming up soon, they hope to launch a web site.

Lastly, George and Anna are now the proud sponsors of ‘Crossgates Primary School Football Team.’

“We have two young boys ourselves, so we felt a certain empathy and it’s a nice way to put something back into the community.”
