Slimming World – ‘Love it, Cook it, Share it’

‘Love it, Cook it, Share it,’ say Lisa & Robert, Seacroft couple who’ve lost an incredible 11 stone!

A couple from East Leeds who say sharing the same healthy foods enabled them to lose a combined weight of 11 stone without ever feeling hungry.

The Pendas Way Slimming World group celebrated the couples success at the start of Free Food February which is named after the healthy “Free Foods’ its members can enjoy without weighing, counting or measuring when losing weight on Slimming World’s Food Optimising eating plan. And the launch party saw Lisa Turpin and Robert Johnson named the groups couple of the year 2017.

The seventy five members of the group, which is held every Wednesday & Thursday at Pendas Way Community Centre, created a delicious feast for the event. The Slimmer’s each brought along a dish made entirely from ‘Free Foods’ which include fruit & veg, pasta, rice, potatoes, lean meat, fish, eggs and more, showing that Slimming World members never need to suffer the hunger pangs that usually see people throwing in the towel on other weight loss plans.

Lisa Turpin & Robert Johnson, certainly believe preparing, cooking and eating the same meals and supporting one another on their weight loss journeys has been key to their success.

Lisa who has lost 8st 5lbs says, “When I first joined Slimming World I couldn’t believe how much food I could eat and still lose weight. Making small changes to the way I cooked our meals meant we could still enjoy all our favourites such as a Sunday Roast or cooked breakfast. We enjoy changing any meal into a Slimming World family favourite – they taste so good and people can never believe we can eat all the food we do and lose weight. As we’ve lost weight we’ve enjoyed being more active too.

Robert who is 2st 9lbs lighter since joining Slimming World says: “We’re lucky because as well as the support we had from each other, the rest of the group have also been there for us. Every week in our group we swap recipes and if we’ve ever struggled there has always been someone to suggest a new idea or remind us why we shouldn’t give up. I don’t think we could have achieved all we have without the support of our consultant Amanda and the ret of the Pendas group.”

In fact it was the couple’s fellow slimmers who voted for them to represent the Pendas Way Slimming group in the Couple of the Year 2017 competition.

Amanda Jackson, who runs the group, says
“Lisa & Robert are living proof slimmers are more successful when they lose weight together and get support and motivation from others along the journey. Seeing Lisa and Robert’s weight come down week after week has been a joy. They’re a real inspiration to the rest of the group, including me.
I hope they inspire everyone in Leeds too. The theme of Free Food February was ‘love it, cook it. share it,’ so we’d love to show even more people that healthy eating isn’t all carrot sticks and lettuce leaves. We had a huge spread at our group’s party, including mains, snacks and even fruity ‘Free Food’ desserts. From tasty soups to bannoffee cheesecake, it all looked and more importantly tasted delicious.”
