Welcome to East Leeds Magazine

 Issue 33

The night runs away with the day

The grass that was green is now hay

The world goes around without even a sound

And it looks like the summer is over

Dusty Springfields classic 60’s song, Summer is Over and what a fantastic summer we’ve had for a change but like everything all good things must come to an end and no doubt it will chuck it down for the next six months!

Ali’s foot in plaster

Despite hobbling about these last few weeks with a broken foot, ELM’s Ali is doing the Race for Life 5k in aid of Cancer Research UK at Roundhay Park on 18th October with sister Sam and her son Louis, in memory of their brother who sadly passed away earlier this year. See www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/three-amigos51

Just before we went to print, we found out Alexandra Turner became British National Champion for her age and weight, we’ll have more on this in the next issue.  Well done Alex!

On Saturday 12th October, Scholes in Bloom are having a coffee morning between 10-12 noon. Price of a ticket is £1 including coffee & biscuits. There will be a tombola, plant stall, all the usual stuff.

Dave Grainger 1966-2013

Sadly another good East Leeds lad  passed away way too early.

Our hearts go out to his family & friends.

  1. Vincent Le Mare says:

Aah, the days of Dusty Springfield & Marianne Faithfull. Glad to see someone is keeping the home fires burning.

  2. Nice touch about Dave Grainger, I knew the lad years ago and sadly lost touch but was devastated to hear of his passing, far too young.

  3. I was friends with Dave for many years,I have not spoken to him in many years, but I will remember the good times we had mate.
    God bless
