Welcome to Wilsons again!
Welcome, after yet another cold month. I am sure everyone is ready for some proper summer weather by now! Needless to say we have been busy working on new products and flavours for your barbecue, when the sun does decide to put it’s hat on!!  Don’t forget we are now open on Sundays so even if you decide to grill at the last minute on a weekend, we will be there for you.
We would like to take his opportunity to congratulate our Free Range Egg supplier, Ian Taylor, who has just been named “Rural Business of the Year” at the Harrogate Business Awards. He deserves it, for producing such good eggs, consistently. If you have not tried them already try them now and taste the difference.
Talking of awards, we were very surprised to find out we have been nominated for the “Britain’s Best Butcher” category in the annual awards run by the national butchers trade magazine, ‘Meat Management.’ In fact not only have we been nominated, we have been put onto the shortlist and last week we were visited by two judges who are big names in the butchering world. They really gave the shop a good going over and asked lots of questions about the business and our plans for the future. We felt that the visit went well and can now only hold our breath until the beginning of July when the winner will be named at the awards.
Also this month we have had the opportunity to send Tania, (bottom left) one of our pie makers,  to our friends farm shop where she has learned to make some delicious quiche for slicing. These are made with only the best ingredients and will be a great addition to your summer fayre. You  will find these in the Deli counter close to our range of Asian cuisine which is supplied by Munshis Halal from Dewsbury. These are also first class products, and they are made locally.
We always try to listen to our customers and with the help of Eden Mobility, we are getting a temporary ramp that will allow wheelchairs access to the shop. This will allow customers in wheelchairs a chance to browse for themselves. The ramp will not be a permanent fixture but will be available on request. Unfortunately it will not take electric scooters.
Our baker Shane has yet again expanded his range of popular confectionary by adding a large Curd Tart to his already mouthwatering products, in fact he has been so busy we have now employed his son Matthew to help him at our Normanton bakery.
Regular customers may wonder what has happened to our “USA style Burgers”. Well, nothing really, but we have renamed them our “Prime Steak Burgers”. In these changing times we feel the new name is a better description of these Burgers made from our finest minced steak, and so hopefully more informative to customers who have not shopped with us before.
On a final note, we have negotiated a cracking deal on fresh English chicken fillet with our  supplier, so we can now offer a very competitive price on our bulk packs, now displayed in the shop. This is the best quality at the best price!!
